Correction methods can be applied in many domains, for example:

• photogrammetry, making objects 3D from photographs (images for that purpose must be non-distorted so lens distortion correction is necessary),
  
  
• robotics (the robots often have average-quality cameras that have to be corrected),
  
  
• texture creation (after previous perspective correction),
  
  
• panorama creation (where radial distortion makes harder compositing panorama image),
  
  
• image stitching eg. in astronomy for composing sky images,
